Warren King’s Cardboard Sculptures.
Massive and impressive sculptures created entirely from cardboard by artist Warren King.
The sculptures were developed after a trip King made to China and the village where generations of his family had lived. He was approached on the street by many people there who had memories of his grandparents 50 years prior, right before the onset of the Chinese Civil War and their departure from the village.
Taking all of this as inspiration, King built larger than life sculptures of the village’s residents, slightly abstracting their forms and leaving the backs incomplete. King explains that these are not so much about representing the individuals but about his trying to understand them and the limits that getting to know someone might accrue.

“In the Ether” at Hellion Gallery.
Opening on Thursday, September 1st, 2016 at Hellion Gallery in Portland, Oregon is the two person exhibition “In the Ether” featuring work by Veronique Dorey and Tamaki Mori.
The two talented artists display a knack for describing the strange, often involving the supernatural and appearing to be on the brink of what might be considered a nightmare… As one might expect from breathing the fumes of ether.
“In the Ether” will be on display until October 1st, 2016.
Jason Limon, Paintings.
Mysteriously enchanting paintings of magical oddities so rich with depth that I had trouble not posting every one of his pieces here. Jason Limon’s artwork is awesome.
